Chinese Chess is a traditional yet practical set of chess pieces made from real solid hardwoods. All are solid wood, not veneered or composite filled, making the board and chess pieces last for years of frequent play without wavering, cracking or fading.
This Chinese chess set is designed for two purposes: to play a game and to be displayed on a shelf or given as a gift.
This set is a great choice for you, for these reasons:
Genuine Solid Hardwood
Real wood grain indicates a close and natural grain, along with a stable temperature feel – cool to the touch in winter, warm in summer, as opposed to resin or painted-wood which feel cold or tacky depending on the season.
Very thick and rounded chess pieces.
Each piece is cut thicker than mass market pieces, and has smooth rounded edges. The extra weight not only provides a satisfying "click" when added to the board, but players who value "feel" will feel the difference right away.
Engraved (Recessed) Lettering that Will Last
Character markings are not printed or stamped on the surface of the wood, but rather carved into the wood (yin-carved/intaglio technique). This is because engraved lettering does not deteriorate over the years with repeated usage, whereas printed lettering will dull over the years.
No Chemical Odor, Smooth Natural Finish.
The pieces are made of solid wood and not treated composite, eliminating the smell of plastic or lacquer. The surface is smooth, natural and jade like.
Crack-Resistant Solid Construction
All manufactured using full solid wood and offered in three finish styles: Yang-carved (relief), edge-carved and single edge. This solid construction doesn't subject the chess set to seasonal cracking, like less expensive composite or laminated sets.
Easy Storage Folding Board.
The board folds flat and still for easy storage and travel and is locked flat and stable during play.
Premium Gift-Ready Presentation
The collection is shipped in a gift box that features gold accents and is lacquered vermillion, and also serves as a long-term storage box. No additional wrapping required for birthdays, retirement gifts or Lunar New Year gifts!

FAQ
Q: Are all the wood pieces of this chess set solid wood or veneered?
A: It is true solid hardwood - board and pieces are not veneer-over-composite. It is this that makes the set crack resistant and long lasting.
Q: Will the lettering fade as time goes by?
A: No. These characters are indeed engraved in the wood (intaglio/recessed), but not printed or stamped on the surface; therefore they will not be damaged by normal handling and play as they would be if the surface were printed or stamped.
Q: The distinction between the 50# and 60# models is that the 60# is available in a 60v Lithium Iron battery size.
A: The 50# set has 4.8 cm pieces on a 50×46 cm board, while the 60# set has larger 5.8 cm pieces on a 58×54 cm board. If you want something larger and heavier for a table or a display stand, go with the 60# version, or if you're looking for something that's more compact and portable, opt for the 50# version.
Q: Is there any smell in the wood when it is delivered?
A: No. It is a natural solid wood and as such it does not have a plastic and lacquer smell but only a natural wood smell.
Q: Can this set be given as a present?
A: Yes. Packaged in a gold detailed gift box for presentation and longterm storage, it's ready to present without wrapping.
Q: Can the board be folded to store?
A: Yes, the board folds for easy storage and portability and lays flat and stable for play.
